EASTON — Temperatures reaching the mid-90s are expected to continue in Easton and throughout the region until at least Tuesday, Aug. 9. With that in mind, the Easton Fire Department would like to remind residents of ways to beat the heat and stay safe amid high temperatures.
Residents can call Easton Police at 508-230-3322 and press 0 to be put in contact with the cooling center team should they require the assistance of a cooling center at any point during these high temperatures.
Please also remember to keep hydrated, even if you do not feel thirsty, and stay in an air-conditioned place as much as possible.
Additionally:

Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, light-colored clothing.

Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher.

When outside, find shade and minimize direct exposure to the sun.

Take frequent breaks if working outdoors. Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, which is typically around 3 p.m.

Never leave children or pets in a vehicle.

Be a good neighbor. Check on family, friends, and neighbors, especially the elderly, those who live alone, those with medical conditions, those who may need additional assistance, and those who may not have air conditioning.

Watch for signs of heat illness. If someone is showing signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke seek emergency medical care immediately.
