EASTON — Chief Justin Alexander and the Easton Fire Department are pleased to invite community members to this year’s open house, to be held ahead of the 2023 National Fire Prevention Week.

WHAT:
In celebration and recognition of Fire Prevention Week, the Easton Fire Department is hosting an open house featuring family activities and demonstrations. The event is open to all and free to attend.
Fire Prevention Week, recognized Oct. 8-14 this year, is organized by the National Fire Protection Association with the goal of educating the public about simple but important ways they can keep themselves and those they live with safe. This year’s campaign is “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.”
During the Open House, guests will be able to enjoy live demonstrations and interactive activities. They include:
- Touch-a-truck
- Spray house
- Ladder climb demonstration with candy drop (candy will not contain nuts)
- Live Jaws of Life extraction demonstration
- Live burn demonstration showing the difference in how fire spreads with doors closed or open
- Face painting
- Pumpkin painting/decorating
- Photo booth and Sparky the Fire Dog
- Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad with robot
A Heart Health Awareness table will also be set up and CPR demonstrations will take place.
Popcorn, pizza, ice cream, hot and cold coffee will be available for guests at no cost throughout the event.
The Easton Food Pantry will have a collection box on site for anyone who would like to donate a non-perishable item.
