Nov. 4 Ballot Vote to Determine if Project Moves Forward
EASTON — Police Chief Keith Boone, Fire Chief Justin Alexander and Director of Public Works David Field thank voters who attended this week’s Special Town Meeting, reviewing, debating and participating in their local government processes.
Voters at the Oct. 23 Special Town Meeting approved funds for the design and construction of new police, fire and public works facilities in Easton, as well as a senior citizen tax relief package to offset project costs for qualified fixed-income seniors.
Voters will now be asked whether to approve an associated Proposition 2 1/2 debt exclusion during an upcoming ballot vote. The ballot vote is the second and final voter approval needed for the project to move forward. A debt exclusion is a temporary tax increase that will support only the building project.
The ballot vote will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Oliver Ames High School, 100 Lothrop St.
No-excuse vote by mail is available for the election. Vote by mail applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. All mail ballots must be received at Town Offices by 4 p.m. on Nov. 4 to be counted. Residents should note that postal delivery services are not consistent and can range from 3-11 days. It is strongly recommended that voters return their ballots to the dedicated ballot drop box outside Town Offices, 136 Elm St., by the close of polls (4 p.m.) on Election Day, Nov. 4, to ensure it is counted. All voter information, including registration status, can be found at easton.ma.us/vote.
