Disposing of sharps in household trash is both illegal and dangerous, but the Easton Fire Department has partnered with the Board of Health to offer residents options for safely disposing of these items.
Container Purchase and Return Program
Easton residents may purchase a one quart sharps container from the town for $12.50 and return it for disposal once the container is filled or no longer needed. The container has an estimated capacity of 75 one-cubic centimeter syringes, 35 three-cubic centimeter syringes or 140 pen needles. One gallon containers may be purchased for $25.
There is no cost for disposal of containers purchased from the town.
Containers purchased elsewhere may be returned for disposal at a fee of $10 for one quart containers, $15 for two quart containers and $20 for one gallon containers.
Containers are available for purchase from the Town of Easton at the following locations:
413 Bay Road
Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (closed noon-1 p.m. for lunch)
Fri. 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Annual Collection Day
Each year, in cooperation with our Household Hazardous Waste Day vendor, the Easton Fire Department will accept sharps that are secured in capped, puncture resistant plastic containers (such as laundry detergent bottles) on the same day that Hazardous Household Waste Day is held elsewhere in town. No loose sharps will be accepted.
