Update #5 10/28/21 7:10 PM
National Grid will continue working throughout the night to clear roads and restore power.
National Grid will be making significant progress tomorrow on restoration at the neighborhood level. Some areas have extensive damage, and there is a possibility that due to the amount of work needed, restoration may not occur until sometime on 10/30/21. We do not have restoration information on specific neighborhoods and streets yet.
Easton local schools will be closed tomorrow. The main reasons are that will not be able to get all of our schools back up with power, roads will still be closed, and wires will be on the ground endangering the students that walk to school.
Easton is offering sheltering services and will continue to do so overnight tonight. If you need sheltering assistance, please call Easton Police at 508-230-3322 and press 0 to speak with an officer. They will connect you with our sheltering team. Please think of neighbors and loved ones who might need assistance but are not on social media.
Easton’s Food Pantry will be open for those in need of food tomorrow from 1 PM to 4 PM. It is located at the Easton Town Hall, 136 Elm Street Easton, MA 02356. Please call 508-230-0670 during the morning hours to make arrangements for a pickup.
Remember to treat all downed wires as if they are live. Do not approach them as electrocution can occur without direct contact.
Generators need to be kept outside. They should not be near doors or windows. Please have working carbon monoxide detectors as they can save your life. We have already seen multiple carbon monoxide emergencies in Easton from generators running as a result of this storm.
If you have not reported your power outage to National Grid, it is important that you do so. You can report outages by going to https://www1.nationalgridus.com/outages or call 1-800-465-1212.
