Currently, in Easton, there are 3428 National Grid Customers (33% of Easton) without power. National Grid has over 250 crews working in the region to get the system up and running. They have to start with the main transmission lines and then work down to the individual customers. The important step of getting all National Grid substations back online has been accomplished.
National Grid will be sending crews into Easton now to work on opening all roads and repairing all of the broken utility poles. These are the next steps in the restoration process for Easton. Unfortunately, due to the major damage to National Grid’s infrastructure in Easton, many residents will not have power again tonight. Preparations for this should be undertaken by all residents without power now.
Easton is offering shelter services and will continue to do so overnight tonight. If you need sheltering assistance, please call Easton Police at 508-230-3322 and press 0 to speak with an officer. They will connect you with our sheltering team. Please think of neighbors and loved ones who might need assistance but are not on social media.
The Easton Y has offered their facility to residents who would like to come there to warm up or charge their portable devices. It is located at 25 Elm Street, North Easton, MA 02356.
Remember to treat all downed wires as if they are live. Do not approach them as electrocution can occur without direct contact.
Generators need to be kept outside. They should not be near doors or windows. Please have working carbon monoxide detectors as they can save your life. We have already seen multiple carbon monoxide emergencies in Easton from generators running as a result of this storm.
