Update #7 10/30/21 10 a.m.
We are down to approx. 22% w/o power, however we have been advised by MEMA that utility outage maps are currently behind on updates so this figure may be higher than reality. NGrid has numerous crews in Easton working on full restoration, and had crews here overnight working on wire removals. There are multiple poles in the process of being re-set.
DPW staff have been in since morning again for cleanup work, which will continue through this weekend and for numerous weeks. Easton emergency management leadership continues to be in contact with Grid day and night to advocate for our needs and to support Grid’s efforts.
Last night, Grid advised that they hope to see 95% of power back in Easton by late tonight (Saturday), however, all staff are contending with the rain, and depending on the severity of weather later, this could slow efforts into Sunday. As much work as can be done safely as possible will continue.
Please be mindful of the following:
- If you need sheltering assistance due to lack of power / heat, please call Easton Police at 508-230-3322 and press 0 to speak to an officer.
- If your electrical service (the wire that runs from the pole and actually connects to your home) has been torn from your home or clearly damaged, you must contact a licensed electrician to reconnect that service. NGrid does not perform this service.
- NEVER run a generator inside your home OR your garage – CO poisoning can kill you.
- Do not touch or drive through downed wires. All effort will be made to clear roads by Halloween – but please start to plan ahead now. If, by daylight Sunday AM, your road or sidewalk has trees or wires down, you should not plan to walk / trick or treat on that path.
We will continue posting updates throughout the weekend as we learn more. Thank you for the continued patience. As a reminder, all emergencies should go to 911, and outages should be reported to NGrid at https://www1.nationalgridus.com/outages or call 1-800-465-1212.
